I have not posted here in quite a bit now. I have been preparing for the AT thru-hike, and have had no time at all. This morning though I was surfing around Inhabitat, and I came across this article. Check out this place in NJ. AWESOMELY beautiful. Link HERE
Hi guys - have just discovered your blog and am very excited about following your progress, so have added you to my bookmarks! I am VERY keen to build a green container home (so far 26 designs completed on SketchUp!!Each one better than the previous, so getting to what I want! Very influenced by Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House)Am eager to see your final design. Have you decided on how many containers? I was reading about your air-conditioning concerns, I imagine you have already considered the placement angle of your home to maximise winter/minimise summer sun? This will greatly affect your interior temps. Here in Australia I need to be very aware of my homes orientation, and hope to do away with aircon altogether. I am guessing in Texas you have similar temperatures to here in Sydney? I hope to begin my own blog down the track when the plans become a little more solid! But best of luck with the build. Terry
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful example of what can be done using shipping containers to build a beautiful home. This design looks both functional and practical at the same time. Very nice job of both design and construction.

ReplyDeleteBefore you decide to use shipping containers to build your home, be sure to check if there are any regulations for this kind of home in your area.
ReplyDeleteIf someone wants to use a real shipping container, be sure to replace the floor. They use strong pesticides in the treated wood. ship container homes for sale
